  1. Seems like she learned quickly to wear a dress a foot above her knee, went from one extreme to another- I travel to the Ohio towns she speaks of and know many and I believe this dating info was to sell books.

  2. I went to Pennsylvania on a tour. Everybody there spoke English I don't understand this girl they gave us a big tour and explained everything to usthey said that it was like any other religion you could take it as far as you wanted to some of the people had cell phones some of the people didn't explain about their clothes and the women the only thing I found strange is that they had very serious faces but they said the men more beers if they were married and the single fellows did not have beards I also saw couples dating in the carriages and the Taurus said that those people were on dates I said how do you know the man said because the guy doesn't have a beard I don't know how much of this story I believe. When she ran away where did she go I would have asked her where did you get your clothes she didn't ask how did she survive . And some of the people had lights and their house I asked the man how do you know this he said there are wires running to their houses from the phone poles. I went into the restaurants and Sol little children speaking English. So I am not sure that I believe this girl from my experience going to Pennsylvaniaand the tour guy explaining everything to us and also live around of lot of places where they have the restaurants and other businesses set up and everyone speaks English perfectly with no problem no broken Englishthe young people are as typical as The outsiders the girls like to go to the malls also what do they want to go to the malls for the same reasons as every young person like the mall. Like the poor guy said it depends on the individual but some of the people even had cars I think she just wanted to live and that is very normal but I think they swore to live a double lifebut the young people to break away and they will put on their English clothes and then go back and put on there Amish clothes and then there Amish I am not sure how much of this story I believe from my experience visiting Pennsylvaniaalso living around the Amish people with all their businesses set up all around me they sell swing sets furniture food that have restaurants and they all speak English and at times I even see the girls acting giggly as teenagers would I do believe that the young kids work at very young ages though and the restaurants to everyone seemed to have something to do whether it's sweeping the floor and you see young children doing these thingsI think it is a very private community and I think like the tour guy said it depends on the individual family and how far they want to take it as far as religion goes. If you live around Pennsylvania go there for a tour and you will see everyone there speaks English so I don't think she really had to learn to speak English

  3. Those pics of her were so cool she's so cute love that pic of guessing her old village in backdrop and her up in boots ect

  4. This interviewer is terrible how did she get her job?

  5. What an interesting story. She has got some giant cojones!! Considering she had almost zero knowledge of the English world and history, she has really done an amazing job interview integrating herself into an alien society and done so very successfully. She seems so bright and well spoken and has such a positive outlook on life. Not to mention she is absolutely adorable lol. I genuinely hope, at some point, her family comes around and accepts her again. However, if they don't, I hope she continues to be happy and healthy and lives a fulfilled life.

  6. Also, she comes off as way more intelligent than so many Americans that have the benefit of growing up outside of a community like the amish, and begin learning the history of the u.s. and other subjects like science and whatnot.

  7. I have a house very close to where she came from. Our property is surrounded by a large Amish population and also a wildlife preserve. There are two types of Amish there, the very strict group and more easy going. The strict ones teach their kids to not acknowledge the English (that’s what they call the non Amish) in any way and don’t teach their kids to speak English so they have to rely on their community alone. Then there are the typical Amish. You see them selling their goods, they have jobs and will also often employ English people. They realize that while they follow a strict life there are people around them who do modern things but they’re not going to teach their kids that the English are bad. The first week or two we lived there I took my kids to Walmart and the Amish love Walmart. They have parking spots for their horses and buggies. My kids and I love to say hi to people and the kids would often wave at other little kids and smile at them. The more strict Amish mothers would yell at their kids if they looked at us or waved. It’s quite sad! I have seen some good Amish people with good hearts but to claim to want nothing to do with the wicked English people but have no problem paying someone to drive you to a Walmart so you can load up on modern convenience is so hypocritical!

  8. If I were going to give this young lady advice it would start – be honest with yourself look for the truth. Read the Bible Matthew, Mark, Luke, John ask for help from someone trust worthy (don't lie, don't steal, no trouble maker)

  9. Meg kelly is terrible!!! Jessica Simpson could do better than her and shes pretty terrible too.

  10. Would you take a look at my new YouTube channel? Every viewer and subscribe helps.  It’s a Meyer Briggs Personality Type type of channel. It’s something I’ve been intrigued by for a few years now.   Thanks Annie

  11. She acts like the Amish was like a cult they let you leave if you want to. Of course I'm not Amish but I have an Amish beard

  12. Just another crazy cult

  13. Such a beautiful young lady. I'm glad she's happy and doing well.

  14. If you don't like the interview then read her book. It's a good read!

  15. Amish people are people who live in old times. So the girls story is true

  16. What a horrible interview. I cringed a few times during her questioning. Looks like I’ll have to get the book.

  17. "We cant use any modern technology"

*uses kerosene in their lamps that requires modern technology to produce.

  18. I come from a german speaking part of Europe and I remember my mom telling me (she grew up on a farm) the typical courtship back then would be that when a young man fancied a girl, he would put a ladder outside of her window in the middle of the night and knock at her window to wake her up. Then they would hang out all night in secret.

  19. The interviewer is patronising and aske very silly questions

  20. I read her book I also knew a modern couple from my college church with the last name Swartzentruber different people have left

  21. She grew up not knowing anything about the outside world yet the host was expecting her to know at least George Washington and 9/11 😒 very disrespectful towards the brave young woman. The host didn’t acknowledge how courageous she was to realize the only life she’s known wasn’t for her. I did my research and if you’re Amish and go against the church/elders you get cut off from the community. The more appropriate questions she should’ve been asked how she survived without any support. What inspired her to write the book and how’s she supporting herself now and has she made attempts to make contact with her siblings stuff like that.
She deserves a 2nd interview not some dumb airhead asking dumb questions.

  22. She is very pretty! I actually have Mennonite in my background too…

  23. Megyn Kelly is awful…..

  24. She left a lot out like at age 16 they can experience the English life for as long as they want and go out and date and party and live as an American. Not that that's always a good thing I think a lot of the Amish stuff is very good. Maybe we should be more like them. I can understand her not wanting to get up every single day of her life and milk cows at 4 a.m. . But I admire a lot of the stuff and the rules that these people have. This world is too fast and too dirty. Nothing but scum. If I was her I would have switched to Mennonite. They are a lot less strict. But you would still be living a good life instead of trying to live in this box store world we live in. Where you can't be too fat you can't be too skinny. You got to have the BMW he got to have the $300,000 house. And everything else that goes along with this place!

  25. Someone needs to make a movie out of this girl's story!

  26. So when she left with just her clothes on he back, walked to town ,then what? She had to have known someone? No money , nothing. Then she went to college? That part of the story was completely left out.

  27. This was a great interview, but I wish that Megyn would’ve discussed where the young Amish girl “began” once she entered normal life. For example, who helped her get established? Where did she sleep without any money on her first night in civilization? What was her first job?

  28. Well at Least She was taught the Earth was Flat . 🙂 QC

  29. I wish Megyn wouldn’t interrupt so often. Her words are very interesting to hear.

  30. She was willfully ignorant. Amish don't restrict what you can learn. You're taught what you need to live in the community but they are not some book burning Bible cult. By her standard of looking at the world, people in the 19th century, without electricity, without modernn conveniences, had no joy. Come to think of iut, I guess there was no joy ever until the mid-20th century when modern luxuries were commonplace.

  31. She did big mistake in her life. I hope she will come back to JESUS. Ex Muslim here after saw JESUS Lord Amen .

  32. I really think the Amish are a prosocial cult. Megyn is a terrible interviewer.

  33. In my country, primary school education with all subjects, including history, geography, chemistry etc. is mandatory for all children. Why not in USA?

  34. Megyn Kelly was the prettiest caustic person in the public consciousness.

  35. One of the number one questions most people would have, and of course Kelly fails to ask, is "When you left, where did you go, what did you do for housing and food and money?" Great job Kelly. Geez

  36. This interview could be way better if the questions were deep and give Emma more time to talk about her experience rather than ask stupid question that added no value to the discussion . I would love to hear if Emma talked to her family about her own feelings towards being an amish before she escaped . did her family noticed or felt her sorrow and sadness of living as an amish ? what would happen if Emma told her family that she was going to leave that day ? would they stop her ?

  37. My boyfriend's ex monona is a little bit different than Amish the Amish want nothing to do with the family once you leave the group.

  38. Get this amnish girl back… she will be ruined by this American slutty society

  39. Ohio here im not Amish but these people helped me a lot they are full of God's love..and OHIO VERY HAPPY TO HAVE THE GREAT AMISH!!!

  40. This my friends is RELIGION this is not what Jesus teaches us so glad this girl got out and I hope it did not turn her into an atheist

  41. She is actually advanced in her forced education. The main stream media is still trying to teach us their communist opinions of the world.

  42. What do you call an Amish man with his arm up a horses backside?

    A Mechanic.

  43. I’m Amish and my dad doesn’t let me use computers. I shouldn’t be writing this comment because if he catches me there will be

  44. Isn't there 3 orders of Amish communities?

  45. She is worth millions of modern enlightet fancy girls.

  46. I actually like Megyn Kelly, witty, funny, asking the right balance of serious and entertaining questions. Too bad she left Fox.

  47. They'll use camera's, but they have to be Black and White Camera's. Clearly the color camera's cross that line of being too advanced to be acceptable.

  48. So beautiful and charming girl …

  49. Why do they have cameras tho

  50. I live among the Amish….I know plenty of well rounded people who are very joyful. This is just one girls experience, and it has been pushed by the secular media as "THE" story about Amish and their world. This is just one unfortunate girl and her story. There are messed up Amish families and people just like there are messed up non Amish…..Im glad she left, but please dont let her story make you think the whole Amish world is like hers.

  51. been spending most our lives living an Amish paradise (ooooh)

  52. The Amish are JUST as knowledgeable about things going on in the world as everyone else, believe me. Probably more knowledgeable at times LOL And yes, that even includes the strict Swartzentruber group. I believe one of her cousins wrote a book as well and played a character on the fictional Amish Mafia show. One woman went on Dr Phil pretending to be Amish and told "horror stories" and she's not even Amish! And yes, she was asked why. It seems there was a trend amongst certain ex-Amish families to write a book "to better educate the world". I was extremely disappointed with one in particular. Books & TV shows sell more when they go overboard with their "facts". Alot of people are obsessed with the Amish but dont know much. Then they read these ex-Amish books and watch these crazy TV shows and they naively believe it's fact. There are amazing Amish just like there are amazing English. Vice versa. With limited knowledge about the Amish, people are more likely to believe truth stretchers. Bigger audience=more $$$$. That's what it all comes down to. There are thousands and thousands who leave the Amish religion/culture each year. Thank goodness they dont all write books. Too bad the honest ones dont. If something is too wild to be true, it likely is.

  53. Emma Gingerich lived in Missouri, and not Ohio.

  54. So a girl left th Amish community knowing nothing about the world outside. Meets megyn kelly, swiftly realises she is the smartest person in the room.

  55. One of the most obnoxious and dumbest interviewers I have watched.

  56. Lot of this is the wrong impression of Amish people. They are.remarkable and you will never here on of them saying anything negative about another person. They do speak three languages. High German, Pennsylvania Dutch, and English. I have talked to a few and they do speak good English. There are a few who leave the faith.

  57. If I were younger and healthy I could embrace the Amish life. I don't want contact with the outside world but I could never be cut off from my family. I live very simply. But my family means everything and Amish would not be for them

  58. I'm black but she's painting all Amish in a ridiculous broad brush.

  59. Good on her, imagine any of us coming from the 300 years ago and ending up with an education. Im not american but ill try buy the book if i cant find it at the library.

  60. "My understanding was that the world is flat" …… Donald Trump is living proof that this is true, that's all I can say.

  61. She should have been with Oprah! Super Souls Sunday OWN is calling you!

  62. Living without internet is like being amish

  63. Aside from the terrible interview, I'm a little skeptical of this. She must be from a very different Amish community. The Amish I know in my area have healthier lives than all of us, and the children are not only fluent in both languages but know more about basic subjects than high school graduates. I'm glad this lady found her happiness, but what ashame people will watch this and think all Amish are similar.

  64. I know She stretched things quite a bit! Even the Swartzentrubers who are the most strictest of the Amish aren’t that extreme! They Do have joy! And they do learn history, geography, that the world isn’t flat, and etc! Yes, I couldn’t live as they do, but she is stretching things!

  65. THIS GARBAGE!!!! Don’t believe this woman
    Here is the truth: https://youtu.be/eoXG3__vL8A

    https://youtu.be/i6i5HrxoGdU

  66. Thanks to the mind control propaganda system of mass media, the entire planet now lives in a giant "Amish Paradise" community where we only know what they want us to know, and we can only think the thoughts they want us to think. If only it were as easy to escape from this dystopia as it was for the Amish girl to hike her way out of her former community. If we want to escape we would need an interstellar space ship, and even if we had one we don't as of yet know where to go.

  67. all ik is that there’s always amish people around my town doing work

  68. The Amish are forbidden to take pictures, so how could they have pictures of her while she was Amish? This is pure propaganda aimed at one of the last communities that still follow God’s law by the nihilistic media

  69. Swartz and trobbers and amish are completely different… to much to explain. But i promise..

  70. You may think she not normal but there communitys here in the UK like Islamic one were people don't speak any English and live there life's like they where in Pakistan or some other Islamic and they have no intention of missing if we point this out we are the racist.
If I moved to there countries if would learn to mix and make an effort.
But the white Europeans from the left act like turkey's wishing for Christmas.

  71. Bunch of airheads, what a lop sided embarrassing interview, jaded women are the worst

  72. In regards to all of the photo📷 confusion ; ⬇️⬇️⬇️
🌹 "The correct answer is most often the simplest one" 🌹

    Simplest💓 Explanation🧠:
Photos were taken AFTER she left the community. Most likely related to her book 📖, as some type of promotion.

    OR
    💟 while participating in 'ex-Amish' documentary/content (POSSIBLY🤷🏼‍♀️)

💟 during Rumspringa🎉 while free to live an 'English' lifestyle.

3 simpler & more likely reasons for the picture than her story being a fraudulent cash grab or a media conspiracy to smear the Amish faith… because Satan. DUH❗
    🤔💕🤔💕🤔💕🤔💕🤔💕🤔

  73. No history because you are experiencing it

  74. What the heck….this interview is awful.
She got too excited about the dating part 🙄

  75. We better tell the truth.

  76. Fake amish people dont take photos

  77. looks like the girl from scary movie

  78. So the questions i need to get answer was where did she go when she left and how did she survive?

  79. "Was there any education about like the number of states, you know, our political system, anything?"
Some high quality education right there.

  80. this young woman is extraordinary. because, she left her cage. it was an invisible cage for her mind. it happens a lot to people; and what's most amazing, is she knew at such a young age.
reminds me of Arnold Schwarzenegger's life story; he left Austria, because it was too stifling – to fulfill his dreams…

  81. lol im not american and i love watching amish documentaries..idk why..they are just so interesting :0

  82. "Is there sexual activity?"
    "No"
    "So what do you do?"
    Says alot about megan Kelly

  83. Now I understand why all the comments where putting Megan Kelly down for this interview. Sad. I’m sure a high school student would do better asking how she survived when she left. I mean wasn’t that the point of the interview? Not to rehash what Amish life is like since most of us have a gist of that lifestyle anyway?🤔

  84. Escape if you want dear all

  85. This Megyn Kelly doesn't seem too bright. Being really glib about something so deep and serious.

  86. That's a cult. Anything any group that discourages education and demands complete and total compliance is a cult

  87. This is full of lies! I grew up Amish! Had close swartzentruber friends an this is full of lies! Good way to sell a book tho! You go girl! My husband an I are filled wi disbelief! Just woooowww

  88. Amish People Just Don't Want There People To Be Fed Lies and Brainwashed.

  89. This is one impressive, strong woman!

  90. Shes so cute, pure and innocent

  91. She is so brave. This woman is wonderful!

  92. Same thing, maybe worse in the "real" world. I wish I had a simple life. Who cares about Earth whether it's flat or not. If you're not happy nothing matters.

  93. Listen, I'm just gonna say it…. I think being Amish is a CULT. There, I said it. I mean it's not like I will offend them, they don't even know what a YouTube is. They can't comment back. So thats pretty good.

  94. Such a courageous girl

  95. You go girl, I complain about going to the store, god I'm a pansy

  96. “Emma is a courageous young woman taking off alone away from family entering the real world and getting her MBA”. “Follow your Dreams” “Make them a reality” 💖

  97. Amish people can’t dislike this because they don’t use technology
