Sunderland Futures

Sunderland Futures is the place to get the maximum out of your university experience. When you come to graduation, you’re going
to be graduating with thousands of other students… so it’s important that you find
a way to stand out. That’s exactly why we’re here to help you. We’re here to
help you get experience, get skills and get noticed. So whether right now you’ve got a career
in mind or whether you don’t. We’re here to develop the
confidence that when you get to that day you know what you want to do next. So if
you haven’t done so already, the best thing to do is get us followed on social media.
If you follow us, you can find out the latest in terms of job opportunities,
hints and tips, helpful information and all the events that we’ve got coming up. You can do that by following us, @uosfutures. You can do that and get us on Instagram,
Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. So with a busy timetable, we know
it can be difficult to put your future first. Luckily, we’ve got some brilliant
online tools that you can get started with wherever you are and whenever you
want. So for example, you’ve got our Online Career Center where you can go to
get all the latest in terms of jobs and information. You can get interview
support, CV support, and some ideas on where you want to go for your future. And
if you want events, you can book those on there, everything is available and
actually you can even ask us a question on Ask Sunderland Futures without even
leaving your sofa. We’ve also got Sunderland Futures on demand which is an
interactive platform where you can build your CV, get ideas for the
future and take part in short eLearning courses. Previously I studied Hospitality and
Tourism and now I’ve ventured into Psychology. So Sunderland Futures has
helped me get a foot into this new field that I’m clearly not familiar with, where
they’ve helped me get contacts into the right organisations that I can
start from. The Sunderland Futures activities that I’ve got involved in are
career help services and interview services… and also work experience help as well. Which has helped me to get into a
current role which is volunteering at the moment because I need to get some
experience before venturing into the field that I’m looking at. The skills and
experience that I believe I’ve gained is actually confidence because, like I said,
it’s a new field so the careers at Sunderland Futures has helped me,
to at least, know where to start. And also it’s helped me with my CV, so
trying to tailor make my skills to also fit this new area that I’m entering. I think other students see Sunderland
Futures just because it can be intimidating going into the working
environments because obviously coming out as a
student all you’ve got is your qualifications. So seeking them is just
seeking that extra support and help. Having help from experts who can help
you structure your journey into your career. Since joining Sunderland Futures and
seeking that help, I’ve just been able to secure myself a volunteering opportunity
so I can get the experiences that I need. So in a year’s time I’m hoping to have
a stable job and have exactly what I
want to do in my dream career. (Nathan) We’re a super friendly
