Social Work student placement experience in Fiji

Social Work student placement experience in Fiji

Hi I’m Bec and I’m Kat and we are fourth year social work students soon to be graduated and we’ve just finished our final social work
placement in Fiji. Bec and I were actually the first two students to complete our final social work placement in Fiji for four months, one of the real big
positives of completing this placement was the opportunity to be able to work within
a developing country and to be immersed within a diverse community and a diverse culture. We got to do so many things because we did have our weekends off so that enabled us to go to a number of islands which was really
amazing. We also got to party on the weekends and see the night life that was in Nadi and
Suva which was lots of fun as well. The exposure that we gained on this type of placement is extremely unique in comparison to placements that you’d have within an Australian context. Even just the the practical opportunities
that you get from completing a social work degree at UWS. I don’t think you would have the same opportunities
at other universities. (Closing music)
