[General chatter] I’m Sandy and I’m the director of field education for the UW school- Madison school of social work and today we wanted to take some time to honor our community partners. Those are the agencies in the community who provide not only a placement site for our students – they provide supervision and many learning opportunities toward learning social work. All of the presenters were agencies that we have placements with. They included the VA hospital, the mental health center of Dane County, and Dane County Human Services. We also had a student panel and there were students who were doing change agent projects in their agencies and they presented those projects today to talk about how they made a difference in the lives of individuals as well as the community. Our employer panel talked about not only what we need to do as educators in terms of preparing students for the social work profession but what students need to do to help them be more competitive, be more marketable.
