My Mental Health: Contributing to Community

Contributing to community,
for me, really means that we each
have an opportunity to share the passions
that we each have, our interests
about student health or campus life, and being able to really
create a positive environment around those we interact with. There are so many ways
to get involved, and I think sometimes
when people think we have to get involved they get nervous because they may not have
enough time or they’re not sure
how they’re going to balance those involvements. It’s really about recognizing
what you can do and identifying
your own passions… and figuring out
what you can do at this time. Students who are able to
get involved fairly early on in their university careers are more likely to have
a greater sense of belonging in the later years
as they go through the ups and downs
of university life. No matter what
actions we take on campus, big or small, we all have
an opportunity to impact the daily experiences
of student life.
