I’ll never forget my first class at the Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto. Dr. Albert Rose standing in front. I’m staring out the window at this homeless guy sitting at the bench at the
park. Dr. Albert Rose says, “there is no more important work than social work.” We all do it every day but there’s a few of us who make it a life work. For all of you who get up every morning and work on the front line, helping a homeless person, providing care for a senior, helping a youth. For all of you who sit at policy tables,
changing the levers on poverty across this city, across this country. For all of those who engage more volunteers into our work every day. Thank you for taking on this most important work of caring for each other. Thank you for being part of our uprising of care. Happy Social Work Week.
