Bathroom Organization & Storage Ideas

Bathroom Organization & Storage Ideas

Hi everyone, I’m Alejandra from alejandra.tv
and in this video I’m going to share with you how I’m organizing the bathroom, so I
can find what I’m looking for, it stays nice and organized and I’m just very efficient
when I get ready in the morning. But first, if this is your first time watching
any of my videos and you’re just starting your journey to getting organized, there’s
a link below to help you get started for free. All right, so right here is the bathroom that
Ed and I share, and there’s one sink, there’s some countertop, and it’s pretty basic. What we do is we keep the things we use on
a daily basis, daily or every other day … If it’s frequently used it’s kept out within
reach. So things you use often, you want to make
them nice and accessible so you’re not fishing through trying to find what you’re looking
for, just a nice easy grab. So, if you see it out right here, it’s used
daily or every other day. And the biggest thing here is there’s small
things and then there’s big things. So if it’s small, contain it. So it’s nor floating around and it’s not just,
I guess floating around is the right word. If it’s big, it just gets lined up, stacked
up, it’s on its own. So, all the small things are right here, and
I use this nice clear three drawer organizer. I like that it’s clear so I can see inside
without having to open the drawer to see what’s inside. And each drawer is it’s own category, so this
is like dental stuff. This is Mojo stuff, and then this is grooming. And what you can do is, you can actually,
you can put a label right here if you don’t have clear drawers, so then you know what
the category is, but I don’t have my label maker, and the drawers are clear, so it’s
great as is. Now, what I did at the bottom, was I puttied
down the drawer organizer so it’s not going to shift around. It’s just nice and puttied down, and the putty
I use, I’ll show you what it is. It’s this stuff right here. It’s called museum putty and it works really
well, it doesn’t damage surfaces and it just really holds things in place. All right, I will put a link to this below,
if you’re wondering more about this. So the big things right here that we use every
day are in this tray, so this tray was already here. It works great because whenever you clean
the counter, instead of having to move every single thing, you just pick up the tray, move
the whole tray and everything moves at once. This is, where we’re living right now is a
rental, so this is not our bathroom, so it’s not my stuff, but the tray works well, so
I just have the things, the big things right there. And then, there’s some more big things, lotion,
spray, Mojo’s dental wipes. Then these two bags right here, I have a bunch
of small cosmetic samples, like hotel samples and stuff that I’m using right now, so I keep
them out as a reminder to use them, because I find that if I can see things I remember
to use them because I’m so visual. So, keep those in plain sight. All right, so over here is our toothbrush
and toothbrush holder. And what’s great about this, is I have this
cord organizer on the cord, so the excess cord doesn’t just dangle and it’s near the
water, it’s kind of just away into this cord organizer that you just open up just like
this and it just wraps around this wheel and then you close it, and it’s like this nice
donut that just hangs out right there. It’s so awesome. So, a great habit to get into for keeping
up and cleaning and keeping up with the organization in your bathroom is to do a little bit at
a time before you go to bed. Spend five minutes making this space better
than it is. So, putting cosmetics away, putting anything
that out, if there’s clothes on the floor, taking the clothes putting them in the laundry
room or wherever they belong, but just doing a little bit at a time. A good motto is leave it better than you found
it. Kind of like nature. Do the same thing with the spaces in your
house. Before you go to bed, in your bathroom, how
can I leave it better than I found it? And maybe you just take one thing. If you don’t want to do your five minutes,
or you don’t feel like doing your five minutes, just do one thing. Just leave it better than you found it. It’s a great habit to get into. Okay, so on the shelf down here, is things
we don’t use as often. So weekly, monthly, seasonally. And so what you want to do is keep things
you don’t use as often lower or higher, just not within reach. Just save the stuff within reach, like the
prime real estate for the everyday stuff. All right, so, what I’m doing is I’m using
all of my travel bags right now, because we’re in transition, as organizers. So this has all of my small hair stuff in
the big one. Makeup goes in the medium sized one. And then, long makeup stuff, like brushes,
mascara. If it’s long and it’s makeup, it goes inside
this bag right here. And then in the back of the shelf, so the
back of the shelf has even less frequently used items, like monthly stuff and seasonal
stuff, and just stuff that we’re not using weekly. This is more like weekly, back there is monthly. And again, because these things are all small,
they get contained inside of an organizer, and because those things are big, they just
get stacked and lined up next to each other back there. All right, and so Ed’s cosmetic bag is right
here. His side, my side. And then on this side, there’s these three
baskets that were already here when we temporarily moved into this space, and they work great
for this size shelf. So right here, I just have all of my big hair
stuff, so it’s the blow dryer, the flat iron, the brushes and stuff, and then right here,
I just have all of, like, bulk back up stuff that goes … it’s like bulk back up of stuff
that stays on top of the counter. Yeah, that’s pretty much what it is. And then, in this one right here, this has,
let’s see, there’s feminine care, there’s stuff for Mojo, and then there’s some small
medications and more back up stuff, but smaller stuff. This is more like the big back up stuff, and
this more like the small back up stuff. And then, at the very end of the shelf is
cleaning supplies, and then behind these baskets, because these baskets are, the shelf is deeper
than the baskets, so there’s space behind it, I just have rolls of toilet paper that
just get kept back there. All right, and that’s it. And then in the shower, I also wanted to say
in the shower, only keep the things that you use on a daily basis. So instead of having five shampoos, just have
one shampoo. When you finish the shampoo, recycle the bottle,
bring in the next shampoo, but don’t have five of something open at a time because then
the shower just gets cluttered and makes it hard to clean. It makes it hard to squeegee and stuff. So just have one of everything open. And when you’re organizing your bathroom,
I think the bathroom is such a fun place to organize, because it’s a small space. You get to see progress fast, just have fun
with it. Ask yourself questions. What do you use daily? If you use it daily, keep it accessible. What do you use weekly or monthly? Put that in a lower shelf or in a cabinet
or in a drawer or something. Just have fun. Make your systems work for you. If you set up a system and you find that it’s
still not working, or it’s difficult to access, it can always be tweaked down the road. These are not permanent systems, so just have
fun. Find what works, and just enjoy yourself while
you do it. That’s one of the most important things, is
just have fun while you do it. Bring your best self and see what kind of
systems you can create. Thanks for watching. If you’re looking for more support on your
journey to getting organized, there’s tools and training on my website, alejandra.tv. Thanks for watching. I’m grateful you’re here, and I look forward
to seeing you next time. Take care. Bye bye.

  1. Dam you guys downgraded big time. You went from a huge house to a small cabin style house. You don't seem very happy, are you ok?

  2. The cord organizer is awesome!

  3. Me encantan tus videos.

  4. This new series is so fantastic! Thanks for putting out such lovely videos so regularly.

  5. Can you please make a video about prepping? Like a 4 weeks pantry or such?

  6. Hi Alejandra,

I too am a visual person so I like to leave items in a spot I will readily see them, even if it is in the form of a cabinet I open often. I have everything however in drawers or the medicine cabinet, because I do not have all the counter space you have in the bathroom. Since I have a regular morning routine this does not present a problem. It only involves a quick opening of a drawer or door.

I love your very calm, laid back attitude you have in the rental house. I hope it continues once you are in your new home.

As you have suggested in previous videos, I am purging old, un-used items to simplify life; which I believe you said you also are doing with a lot of your possessions and will probably do some more of. I feet a bit lighter the more I get rid of and the more clutter this eliminates 

    Thanks Alejandra

  7. I remember years ago you were talking about building a house, what happened to that house?

  8. 💕Alwsys love watching your videos.

  9. Easy when you have no kids

  10. I'm so glad you're back!
Can museum puddy be used without damaging walls? I used some sticky tack to hang a poster, and it left an oily residue on the wall when I removed it.

  16. I love watching your vidéos 😍

  17. I love you Alejandra and love your videos. I just think keeping your dogs grooming dental stuff in your personal bathroom organizer is a little yucky. Definately time you have your own babies I think. As much as I love dogs they are still a dog and they do doggy things like lick their backsides and we need to be mindful of this. I do enjoy listening to you and find you very motivating.

  18. Love your new YouTube videos 👍👍👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

  22. What happened to ed??

  23. She talks about "Mojo" as though he was a person LOL

  24. Don't know why but I find this so soothing to watch.

  25. What happened to your nice home??

  26. 1 MILLION YAAAAA CONGRATS

  27. Thank you so much for these amazing videos! I really enjoy your Channel! I have a random question. What size cosmetic bag do you recommend buying for a car console? I watched your car organizing video and i really liked that idea. From the website it's sort of hard to see how big the large one is? Thanks! Also any ideas of where to find them discounted?

  28. I watch her videos not for organisation but for her soothing voice.

  29. She’s posting again it’s been 2 years hun

  30. Hey alejandra i need your help…. pls help me to organize my very small room

  31. Shocked at some of the rude, offensive and downright mean comments on here. 🤯Don't listen to 'em, girl. You are the real deal. THUMBS UP FOR KINDNESS.

  32. What does the phrase ‘mojo’ mean please? ‘Mojo’ is the name of a sweet / chewable candy from years ago here in England, so I have no idea what this refers to?

  33. When is your next video

  34. I hope Alejandra and her husband bought a big new house for her to organize. I'd love to see her organize every single room all over again. <3

  35. Love seeing you starte from the beginning to show us how to do it. Ames more sense.

  36. Some amazing tips and ideas in this video! I especially like the idea of leaving an area better than you found it. Thank you for your content, keep it up!! 🙂

  37. I find great baskets, acrylic cases and more at Ross for cheap and very cool! I love being organized it saves time and the messy look.

  38. yey, so happy that ur back. u and all ur helpful tips and tricks really helped me get sorted in school college uni and in life. thank u so much. one of the most helpful vids i saw was the staples better binders. they are amazing, never heard of them before that video and they are life savers, since i have to pack my bags so tight it breaks the normal cardboard binders, then its a mess and not very presentable. Annoyed though, when i find a product that i love and will stand the day to day routine, staples and the better binders then become a dying breed in the UK……. damn it :/

  39. Alejandra you should have a documentary on Netflix for all the mastery on organizing and tidying up . Marie kondo is already there but I know you way before 😍😍😍

  40. I’ve been watching your videos for years. Personally, I love these casual videos with the “leave it better than you found it” motto. As a working mom who often feels busy and tired, It’s inspired me to tidy up more.

  41. In a couple of these videos Alejandra mentions stuff for mojo? What is that?

  42. I thought you died you hasn’t posted in ssooooooo long

  43. When r you going to put up a new video. Hope sune💐

  44. Very nice mam🌹❤️

  45. Not trying to be rude . But with everything on your bathroom counter it looks cluttered up.that would give me nuts

  46. Are you in your new home or still in rental?

  47. Just found your site today and viewed a few of your video. Many Great ideas, esp. for those who are not organized. Just noticed you are over a million for subscribers too, Congratulations. I am compulsive as well, but I am always looking for better ways to improve my organizational skills. I will be adopting some of your ideas as well. I think I have the urge to do some now. Anyway great videos and I will subscribe too. I noted you seem to move a lot too, so I guess many opportunities to reorganize. Fun site.

  48. What a smart use of your space. Thank you for giving examples of your place in transition as everyone might not have the perfect bathroom storage and many do live in rentals.

  49. REGARDLESS WHERE YOU LIVE. FROM A HOUSE TO AN APARTMENT STILL TAKE CARE WHERE YOU LIVE. I ADORE THIS WOMAN’S TIDINESS AND HER ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS. NOT EVERYBODY LIVES IN A HOUSE. SOME OF US LIVE IN AN APARTMENT, TENTS, SLUM APARTMENTS…I DON’T CARE. YOUR HOME IS YOUR HAVEN. LIVE LIKE ONE AND STOP CRITIQUING THIS WOMAN’S HOME. SHE TAKES CARE WHERE SHE LIVES.

  50. Who else is here cuz of inside edition

  51. So adorable and clever thank you for all you do!

  52. Is she italian cause she uses her hands alot to talk

  53. Im a little surprised that you use the doughnut for cord management. I use a lot of zip-ties because they are so cheap, easy, and versatile/minimalist. They might not be as pretty, but they are very functional. Do you ever use zip-ties?

  54. i love this wood home …. it's look like you in holiday or i don't know in other vidéos i saw too much colors everyway and it's looked like as in kid school … dont' take bad what i'm saying, i just prefer more recently vidéo <3

  55. Smart IDEA to have the lesser used items on a different shelf/in a different part of the room. We are in the midst of cleaning our small home now, and I am going to try to get some organizers too!

  56. OMG, what happend to label maker😱

  57. Not to be a jerk, but you haven't posted in a month!! I miss your videos!!

  58. It seems that you moved again or downsized alot. Your videos look different. Glad your back.

  67. So happy you are back!

  68. The best thing about her is that, she's honest.

  69. Monica Geller left the chat

  70. I discovered your videos several years ago. Was sadden to learn that you had taken break from YouTube. Noticed that you had gone through a life change. Well, I’m so happy you are back.

I myself used to be the most organized person ever. As a child, I was very organized and my room was spotless. When I got my second job in my twenties, things really took a turn for me. I was excited to have money. I would buy stuff that never had growing up. We lived in a simple household. Very thankful for my life growing up. All that buying as really reflected on who I am today. My life has become an organized mess. I no longer can keep up with it. It really hurts! It stresses me out! When I saw your video on how you were doing a new program of living simple, it really was refreshing to know that I’m not alone in this. For me these short little organize videos are helpful. In a perfect world, things aren’t always organized. As a child I didn’t have money. Parents were not spoiling us kids with stuff. I made due with what I had. Money is the root of all evil. Money makes you want more than you need.

I have decluttered my space for 7 years. Honestly, some days, I want to give up. It’s tough. My husband doesn’t understand. We live in a small condo. Space is a premium. Very limited! I have tried to let go of stuff. Only keep one item instead of two same items. I have gotten myself taken off junk mail list. Use the PaperKarma app for that. Send back mail with a return envelope and say “take me off your list”. Little things like that, I have helped me declutter my life. It’s not easy. Just the other day, I went through my shoes realizing “why have I kept these shoes?”. They are old, I don’t wear them, I don’t want them. These are things you don’t discover until later. We had a mouse in our place a few months back. It made me declutter my space. Then it got cluttered again. Everyday, I look for sections to declutter. Sometimes, ideas and things I want to declutter pop up in my head weeks or months later.

I just want to thank you for being real now! Before, you were so organized that I feel like you were going through what I’m feeling now. Your videos are great to watch. Underneath it all, we all can’t be 100% perfect. It’s okay to let people see the good the bad and the ugly. I’m not ashamed my home. When people come over, they can see my clutter. It makes me realize I need to make a change.

I have started to realize that I would rather have a few nice items than a bunch of junk. I have decided to invest in a few good shoes instead of just buying cheap stuff. I rather have shoes that last a long time, than ones that last only a year. I would rather have only stuff I love in my home, than stuff I don’t that clutters up my life.

Thank you for being real!!! Look forward to more videos like this. 😊

  74. You have got to be exhausted with another move! Kudos to you! Love your work!!❤️

  75. So happy Alejandra is back in action! For anyone out there who doesn't know about her decluttering and organizing programs, I strongly recommend them. I'm working through SimpLESSity right now, and I feel so empowered having all of the information she includes in the program. I already own the Power Productivity Program and plan to dive into that program once I finish decluttering my house. You can learn about her courses by clicking the link she included in her details above (https://www.alejandra.tv/training/).

  88. Lovely Video! Apologies for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you heard about – Mahorrla Control Clutter Method (do a google search)? It is a good one off guide for decluttering your home minus the normal expense. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my cousin at last got great results with it.

  89. Nice Video clip! Sorry for butting in, I would love your thoughts. Have you heard about – Mahorrla Control Clutter Method (should be on google have a look)?
