Automotive Mechanics Technology at Honolulu Community College

Hi, my name is Chisom Benoya and
I came from McKinley High
School, class of 2006 and I’m here now at the
Automotive Technology program in
Honolulu Community College. I chose to come to Honolulu
Community College because I always wanted to be
close to home and I figured it was the same
education over here than at UTI
or WyoTech, and I heard it was one of the
best schools in the nation at
one point so I figured why not just stay
here. Three things that I like best
about the program I would have
to say Number one would be the
teachers. The teachers provide that easy
learning atmosphere and it’s so fun to learn because
of them. Two, I would have to say the
equipment and the tools we have. It makes it so much easier for
the students here at HCC to work on older cars, late
model cars, ect. And three, I would have to say
the NATEF Standard that we
follow. NATEF stands for National
Automotive Technician Education
Foundation One advice I would give to an
individual if they’re interested in coming
to the automoticve field, is as long as they’re dedicated
and they really want to be a
mechanic one day, they can get it, it’s just all
up to them. and this is a very good program
to get into if that’s what you
really want to do and honestly for me, I would
have to say I have no regrets
coming into this field. and honestly for me, I would
have to say I have no regrets
coming into this field. It provides a very easy learning
atmosphere for students.
